GASTONIA, July 20, 2017 - With the breaking news that the Republican National Committee unanimously selected the city of Charlotte to host the 2020 Republican National Convention, the Gaston County Republican Party released the following statement:

“I am extremely excited that the North Carolina Republican Party, the City of Charlotte, and our neighbors in the Mecklenburg County Republican Party will be hosting the 2020 Republican National Convention.  I am truly thankful for outstanding leadership - on both sides of the political aisle - that made this selection possible. We know that North Carolina has so much good to offer and the Gaston County Republican Party is prepared to join the NCGOP in showcasing our great state to the nation.  We congratulate city, county, and state officials on their exemplary work that led to the winning bid.
